Laying Out The Top Floor

We had planned, checked and double checked on the layout for the new 2nd floor. Seems no matter what things change.

  • Where we were going to have a walk-in closet we felt that it took up too much room in the master bedroom.

  • Where we were going to have a computer room and spare bedroom we felt that the rooms would be too small and left it as one larger room allowing for a seating area overlooking the ocean.

  • There was an issue with a door opening and window layout that needed changing.

  • The Master bedroom had a standard opening that we changed for a set of double doors.

  • An angle wall needed to be moved as it took up too much space in a hallway area.

  • We were going to have 2 doors in to the bathroom but felt there was no room for this.

The rough in framing begins

No walls up yet

Windows have arrived, looking forward to installing all 21 of them

Angle wall for Master bedroom needed moving

Lucky that we could keep the old bannister

All ready and waiting, only 40 feet up a ladder to install

Windows and doors starting to go in

Entrance to Master bedroom needs to be made wider for a double door

In the demo process we had to take the chimney down to a solid point, needs to be build up 16 feet and framed out.

Most of the front windows have been installed, view from Master bedroom

Rough in is almost complete
